Northern Europe | Spain: Back to a Hidden Gem of a Restaurant (2)
Here’s a motive that might sound a little ridiculous: half the reason for this trip to Spain was a plate of fried calamari rings.
When I wrote the final post about our last trip to Spain, I left a little teaser: “We’d go back again for the calamari rings.” It was just a throwaway line at the time. I didn’t expect us to actually make good on it six months later.
We headed to the station, bought our tickets, and soon found ourselves back at that familiar little restaurant. The layout hadn’t changed, but this time, the owner recognized me almost straight away. When he saw us, he came right over to say hello. Honestly, I felt a little flattered.

In the spirit of “well, we’re here anyway,” we ordered a few extra dishes. Everything tasted pretty good, with no duds, but my favorite was still that plate of fried calamari rings, hahaha.
Toast with caramelized onions and goat cheese
Seafood and fish soup with mussels
Freshly fried calamari rings
Salmon with cassava
Chicken cutlet with orange juice
After paying the bill, we stepped outside to find the town much quieter in winter than on our last visit. But the day wasn’t over yet. Last time, we’d meant to go to Sitges, only to catch the wrong service and stumble into this place. This time, we were going to make that original plan happen.
